According to a survey by the Malaysian Vape Industry Advocacy (MVIA), as cited by the New Straits Times, 88% of Malaysian e-cigarette users successfully quit smoking because of e-cigarette products.

The survey, conducted by market research firm Green Zebras, also reported that 79% of dual users (those who use both vaping products and cigarettes) had reduced their cigarette consumption since they started smoking.
MVIA President Rizani Zakaria pointed out that the findings clearly show that vaping can help smokers quit and serves as a less harmful alternative.
He said, “The Malaysian government truly needs to recognize the benefits of e-cigarettes, especially their potential to help smokers quit by switching to less harmful products.”
“At present, e-cigarette products are still unregulated, and we believe now is the time for the government to consider introducing regulations and adopting policies that encourage smokers to switch to less harmful e-cigarette products.”
