Russia Moves to Introduce Self-Extinguishing Cigarettes
According to a proposal from the Russian Ministry of Health, tobacco companies should be required to produce self-extinguishing cigarettes that automatically extinguish when not being smoked for sale in the Eurasian Economic Union member states. <\/font><\/span><\/p>
“A draft resolution from the Eurasian Economic Commission Council stipulates requirements for consumer packaging and information on tobacco product packaging, as well as requirements for the burning capacity of cigarettes circulating in the markets of member states,” the Russian Ministry of Health stated to interested federal authorities. Thank you.”<\/font>TASS reported<\/a>.<\/font><\/span><\/p>
The Ministry of Emergency Situations pointed out that negligence during smoking is a cause of fires, including deaths and property loss.<\/span><\/p>
It stated: “Carrying cigarettes with reduced burning capacity may significantly help prevent certain fires, reduce deaths and injuries caused by negligent smoking, and save citizens' property.”<\/font><\/span><\/p>
