Rumor: The New IQOS 4 in 2021 Will Be Named IQOS ILUMA
Rumors suggested the 2021 IQOS 4 would be named IQOS ILUMA, after trademark filings for IQOS ILUMA and IQOS ILUMA PRIME were spotted overseas.
New IQOS models have always been kept fairly mysterious. According to an overseas trademark registration website, Philip Morris registered the trademarks IQOS ILUMA and IQOS ILUMA PRIME with the United States Patent and Trademark Office on December 15, 2020. The trademark information shows that they are for electronic devices and their parts used to heat cigarettes or tobacco to release a nicotine-containing aerosol for inhalation. At the same time, a PPT shown during Philip Morris's online investor conference in mid-February also revealed a bit of information about the new model.
From the illustration in the livestream PPT, we can see the exterior design of the IQOS ILUMA. However, Philip Morris has always been very strict about protecting new products, so the editor guesses that the illustration in this PPT is probably the IQOS ILUMA holder, while the appearance of the new IQOS charging case was not disclosed.
At the same time, the investor conference PPT revealed that the new product would mainly be launched in the second half of 2021. The next-generation IQOS will use new heating technology and Smartcore induction. In simple terms, this means the heating blade will be removed, so there will no longer be the hassle of cleaning the blade, and the device will automatically heat after a tobacco stick is inserted.
