As awareness of the harms of traditional tobacco continues to grow, more and more smokers are choosing heated tobacco products. However, because tobacco sticks are relatively expensive in China, many people turn to overseas purchasing agents.

The Yangtze Evening News reporter learned from Nanjing Customs that since May this year, the Suzhou Customs Office stationed at the post office has consecutively seized 16 cases of illegally excessive mailed heated tobacco sticks in inbound parcels sent from South Korea, totaling 1,005 packs or 20,100 sticks of various types.

According to the Tobacco Monopoly Law of the People's Republic of China and the Notice of the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration and the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications on Resuming Postal Services for Tobacco and Tobacco Products, mailed cigarettes may not exceed the prescribed limit of 2 cartons, or 400 sticks. The batch has now been transferred to the relevant authorities for handling.
