Philip Morris International Files Two New Patents
Philip Morris International has filed two new patents in China, covering an aerosol-generating device with an integrated heater assembly and a stick for aerosol-generating products.
According to reports from the National Intellectual Property Administration, recently, Philip Morris International (PMI) has applied for two new patents: “Aerosol Generation Device with Integrated Heater Component” (Application No.: CN201780029099.X) and “Stick for Producing Floating Substances” (Application No.: CN201810597257.8).
1. Aerosol Generation Device with Integrated Heater Component
This patent describes an electric heating aerosol generation device designed for use with consumable sticks. The consumable stick includes a storage portion containing an aerosol-forming matrix, which surrounds an open-ended channel that allows fluid to permeate the inner surface; the open-ended channel extends through the stick. The device includes a housing with a cavity for accommodating at least a portion of the stick, and a heater component positioned within the cavity. The heater component includes a conductive hollow shaft portion connected to the housing, and an electric heater positioned along the hollow shaft portion with at least one heating element for heating the aerosol-forming matrix contained within the cavity.
2. Stick for Producing Floating Substances
This patent describes a stick for producing floating substances (aerosol from smoke) designed for IQOS devices (i.e., heated non-combustion cigarettes). The stick includes a first sheet made of a first tobacco material and at least one other continuous element made of a second tobacco material, with the at least one other continuous element gathered together with the first sheet made of the first tobacco material and wrapped in packaging material. The second tobacco material is chemically different from the first tobacco material.
