IQOS 3.0 4th Gen Review and Differences from the Previous Model
This IQOS 3.0 review covers the fourth-generation release, early supply details, and the main differences from the previous model in design, production, and overall user experience.
IQOS 3.0, which is the 4th-generation IQOS, was launched simultaneously in Japan and South Korea on the 15th of last month. I’ve been a bit lazy, so it took me quite a while to finally write an article about it. As of now, supply in Japan is limited, because the first batch was manufactured in Malaysia. According to reliable sources, the factory in China is still adjusting its equipment, so prices are unlikely to drop anytime soon.

Compared with the previous 3rd generation, the 4th-generation IQOS launched two products: one called IQOS 3.0, and the other called IQOS 3.0 MULTI.

The difference between them is that IQOS 3.0 continues the split-body design used in previous generations, while the MULTI is a consecutive-use product, similar to the Kung Fu device from Sichuan Tobacco.
The biggest highlight of this IQOS 3.0 update is its more refined and compact appearance compared with the previous generation. The charging dock opening and the tobacco stick insertion slot have both been moved to the side for easier use, and the charging time has been shortened by about 40 seconds.
Feature 1: The IQOS charging case has always used a USB port, but with the growing popularity of Type-C, Type-C—with its faster data transfer and charging speeds—is the best choice for IQOS going forward. In short, charging is now faster.
Feature 2: When placing the holder into the charging case, you no longer need to worry about the direction. It can be inserted freely from any angle, unlike the previous generation where you had to pay attention to orientation.
Feature 3: The number of puffs has increased from 14 to 17. The 2nd generation had 12 puffs, the 3rd generation had 14, and the 4th generation now has 17.
Feature 4: Charging time is shorter, and heating is faster.
Many articles say the heating blade has been upgraded, but in fact, manufacturers can’t just change the heating blade casually. If the heating blade changes, the tobacco sticks would also need to be redesigned!
