Japan Tobacco today (May 27) launched its next-generation heated tobacco device, Ploom AURA, in Japan. The device will first be sold through Ploom stores and the CLUB JT online shop. At the same time, Japan Tobacco Group will also launch its exclusive premium heated tobacco sticks, EVO. The company said, “EVO will complement Ploom AURA and offer adult consumers the latest and most advanced products in the heated tobacco category.” Ploom AURA and EVO will go on nationwide sale in convenience stores and tobacco retailers starting July 1, and will be rolled out globally in the near future.

“In the reduced-risk products tobacco category, we are focused on providing adult consumers with premium products rooted in technology, consumer insights, and experience, and I firmly believe Ploom AURA delivers on all of these and more,” said Takehiko Tsutsui, Executive Vice President of RRP.
JT Group said that through 2027, it will continue to prioritize investment in the heated tobacco sticks segment and will invest 650 billion yen ($4.5 billion) in RRP, with most of that going toward Ploom AURA and its rollout.
Tsutsui said: “The RRP category is reshaping the global tobacco landscape, and I believe Ploom AURA and EVO will play a key role in supporting JT Group’s ambitious goal of achieving a double-digit share of the heated tobacco market by 2028.”
