According to Tagesschau, Japan Tobacco International will invest around 30 million euros in its factory in Trier, Germany.


 
 
The company plans to build a new facility to produce components for heated tobacco sticks. According to JTI, these products will be manufactured in Trier and then integrated into heated tobacco products at Japan Tobacco International’s factory in Poland.
 
Peter Kilburg, plant manager at JTI Trier, said the investment is a sign of confidence in the factory and its employees.
 
According to the company, Trier is the only Japan Tobacco International factory in the world to establish such a facility. The site is expected to begin operations in the first quarter of 2026.
 
The Trier factory has around 1,800 employees.
