According to the Korea Biomedical Review, South Korea's Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW) has urged event organizers The Fairs to cancel the 2023 Korea E-Cigarette Expo.
The exhibition is scheduled to be held from July 21 to 23 in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province.

According to a Health Ministry official quoted by the Korean News Agency, "We have sent a letter requesting the cancellation of the event because we are concerned from a health promotion perspective." "We are also worried that, without proper controls, youth may attend the event."
The ministry also expressed concerns about the e-cigarette competition in advertisements, stating that it would violate indoor smoking regulations. In South Korea, smoking is only allowed in separate, fully enclosed areas.
The Ministry of Health and Welfare stated that it plans to inspect the venue on the day of the event, and if the organizers fail to establish a fully enclosed smoking room, penalties will be imposed.
The organizers stated that they have submitted a plan to address the concerns raised by critics and indicated that they will not cancel the conference.
The official also emphasized that previous conferences have been held smoothly. "During the past three conferences, officials from the local public health center visited the conference and found no misconduct," she said.
