Why Is Japan's GLO E-Cigarette Not Popular in China?
Released in Japan in December 2016, glo was developed by BAT to compete with IQOS. It works by inserting special tobacco sticks into a heating device to produce vapor with a cigarette-like taste.
glo is a vaping device launched in Japan on December 12, 2016. At the time, IQOS had already achieved considerable success in Japan, so British American Tobacco (BAT) invested heavily in developing it to compete with IQOS.
This product works by inserting specially designed tobacco sticks into the built-in heater, allowing users to inhale the generated vapor. Compared with cigarettes, the taste is closer to real tobacco, and it does not produce ash. The company also states that harmful substances are reduced by about 90%.
So why hasn't it become as popular in China as IQOS? In my opinion, GLO has a more masculine design, and its tobacco sticks are relatively hard to buy, which has kept it from becoming a hit in China.
